Himachal: Collector orders correction in Shajra Nasab record of Kanaura tribe

Kinnaur, Apr 26 (UNI) District collector Dr Amit Kumar Sharma on Saturday ordered correction of clerical errors in "Shajra Nasab" Records under Section 38-A of the Himachal Pradesh (HP) Land Revenue Act, 1954.
In a notification, the decision was taken on several representations, applications and complaints received in this office from individuals and authorities regarding discrepancies in the entries of caste / tribe names in the Shajra Nasah (pedigree table) and other revenue records in District Kinnaur. H.P.;
A single-page order stated that complainants or grievances have pointed out that the name of the Scheduled Tribe community "Kanaura" / "Kinnara" as recognized under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Orders (Amendment) Act, 1976, is not being reflected accurately in the revenue records.
After examination of settlement and field records, it has been observed that the primary tribe name has consistently been recorded as "Kinnaura' in various entries of Shajra Nasab, irrespective of the associated caste or sub-caste description.
Whereas, the official tribe names as per the aforementioned Presidential Order are "Kanaura" and "Kinnara" only. And the repeated use of the term "Kinnaura" in place of the officially recognized tribe names appears to be a clerical error of a generic nature, likely arising from historical omissions or local recording practices during previous settlement operations.
In exercise of powers vested in him under Section 38-A of the Himachal Pradesh Land Revenue Act, 1954, the district collector proposes to initiate suo motu proceedings for the correction of the above clerical error in the revenue records of Kinnaur district.
The public notice is issued to invite any objections or suggestions from concerned individuals, communities or authorities.
In case no objections are received within the stipulated time, the district collector would proceed with further action in accordance with law.
