GITAM University signs MoU with Army to boost education & research tie-up

Hyderabad, July 3 (UNI) GITAM Deemed to be University has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army, strengthening its commitment to nation-building through education and research.
The five-year agreement, effective from the 2025–26 to 2029–30 academic years, was formalized in a ceremony held at GITAM Hyderabad campus.
The MoU was signed by Brigadier T M Sinha on behalf of the Indian Army and Prof D S Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM-Hyderabad, in the presence of Prof V Rama Sastry, Director of the School of Technology and Dean (Core Engineering), and Prof P Srinivas, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, a statement said on Thursday.

Prof D S Rao highlighted the importance of the collaboration in enhancing technical education standards and expressed confidence that both students and faculty would benefit significantly from the partnership.

Prof V Rama Sastry noted that GITAM already has MoUs in place with the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, and this new association with the Indian Army further reinforces the university’s strong ties with the Defence Services.
He added that the MoU includes two major components: provision of free seats to children of Indian Army personnel, and technical collaboration in cutting-edge areas such as defence electronics, materials technology, UAVs, and AI/ML.
Brigadier T M Sinha appreciated GITAM’s initiative, emphasising the value of such partnerships in shaping the future of Army personnel’s children.
Addressing the students, he said, “Whatever you do, do it with honesty and commitment. If you choose the Indian Army, remember it is more than a job. It is a way of life, filled with purpose and service.”
Encouraging students to follow their passion, he added, “Live a life you love, not just a career you pursue.”
GITAM expressed pride in partnering with the Indian Army and reiterated its dedication to offering educational opportunities and technical cooperation that support those who serve the nation.
