Heat wave condition likely to persists in many parts of Odisha-IMD

Bhubaneswar, Mar 16 (UNI) Several districts of Odisha are experiencing intense heat wave conditions, with temperatures rising above 40°C in many areas.
IMD sources reported that severe heat waves, along with hot and humid conditions and warm nights, are likely to affect Odisha from March 16 to March 19.
On Sunday, the temperature exceeded 40°C in 13 places across the state.
The Temperatures were significantly above normal by about 5-7°C in many parts of interior Odisha, appreciably above normal by 3-5°C in a few places, and about 2-3°C above normal in several places along the coast.
The minimum temperature has risen by about 2°C in some areas of interior Odisha, while it has dropped by about 4°C in a few places in the northern coastal regions.
Boudh recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5°C, while Phulbani recorded a minimum temperature of 16.5°C.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red warning, indicating that heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at many places, with severe heat wave conditions expected in a few places in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur, and Boudh.
An orange warning has been issued for heat wave conditions in a few places in the districts of Angul, Bolangir, and Sundargarh.
A yellow warning has been issued for heat wave conditions at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Dhenkanal, and Gajapati.
The IMD has issued an advisory urging the public to take precautions against the heat.
The red, orange, and yellow warning messages should be communicated widely.
It is advised that people take extra care when going outside, especially during midday hours (around 11:00 AM) in the areas where the heat wave warnings have been issued.
