Himachal: HC adjourns hearing on Wildflowers takeover issue on May 7

Shimla, May 3 (UNI) The legal tussle over Wildflowers Hall hospitality unit in Shimla cease to over as Himachal Pradesh High Court heard the argument on Friday and adjourned the hearing to May seven.
It has been stated earlier that on the consent of state EIH Ltd (Oberoi Group) was allowed to run the
government owned property till next three months after high court and Supreme Court decided to handover the property to state government by March this year.
Following the Supreme Court's February 2024 order that upheld the state's claim and set March 31, 2025, as the deadline for EIH to vacate the property, the state government has granted temporary operational rights to EIH for three months.
This interim arrangement ensures uninterrupted hospitality services at the 84-room luxury hotel during the crucial summer season while the government prepares to select a new operator through a transparent bidding process.
In the matter, state council of ministers has appointed a consultant to advise on the transition process and suggest the way forward for the property's management.
The consultant's recommendations are expected to guide the government in finalizing the terms for the upcoming global tender.
The case took an interesting turn when the Tourism Secretary faced judicial reprimand and penalties for submitting an incorrect affidavit earlier in the proceedings.
While this development added complexity to the case, it didn't alter the core issue of the property handover.
Currently valued at approximately Rs 800 crore, including its prized deodar forest surroundings near Kufri, Wildflower Hall remains one of Shimla's most prestigious hospitality assets.
The High Court has already decided on execution of its earlier order and completing the process of smooth transfer to the state government.
