Holding area at Pune Railway Station to manage summer rush

Pune, Apr 25 (UNI) In view of the ongoing summer holiday season and the surge in passenger traffic, Pune Division, Central Railway, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, has set up a holding area at platform No. of the Pune Railway Station, an official said on Friday.
The initiative aims to streamline passenger movement, prevent overcrowding, and ensure a safe and convenient travel experience, especially for general class passengers.
The holding area has been created as a designated shaded waiting zone equipped with essential passenger amenities. Facilities include adequate lighting, fans, portable toilets for both male and female passengers, and digital display boards for real-time train updates. A help desk has been established at Pune Railway station to assist passengers with travel-related queries, said release from central railways.
To maintain order and ensure safety, a total of 25 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and 15 ticket checking staff have been deployed for crowd management at Pune Railway station. In addition to this a commercial inspector, supervisor and one Officer is deputed for supervision and monitoring of crowd at the railway station.
General class passengers are being systematically checked and regulated to the holding area, before being allowed to proceed to the platform. Boarding is arranged in a proper queue to avoid congestion and eliminate the risk of stampede-like situations often caused by sudden rushes at train arrivals.
Train boarding from the holding area is being coordinated in a disciplined and phased manner. This helps avoid overcrowding on the platforms and facilitates a smooth boarding process.
In addition, the sale of general tickets of summer special trains is being regulated as per the crowd level during peak congestion periods, to manage the flow of passengers effectively and prevent overcrowding. UNI SP SSP
