HP: Ruling Cong to hold candlelight march honouring Pahalgam attack victims

Shimla, Apr 24 (UNI) The ruling Congress in Himachal Pradesh would organise a candlelight march here in Friday in honour of the victims of the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
The peaceful march would begin at 6-30 pm from the Sher-e-Punjab area and proceed to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the historic Ridge Maidan, the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) said in a circular on Thursday.
The event aims to show solidarity with the families of the deceased and to pray for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
Prominent Congress leaders including state party in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Rajni Patil, state Congress President and former MP Pratibha Singh, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, and various ministers, MLAs, and senior party functionaries would take part in the march.
The party has ensured the presence of all its wings — frontal organisations, departmental heads, and elected Congress councillors from the Shimla Municipal Corporation.
The circular emphasises the event's symbolic importance, calling for a united and respectful show of strength and solidarity by all party members.
Speaking to the media, a senior party leader stated, “This march is not only a gesture of remembrance but a strong message against terrorism. We stand united in grief and resolve to uphold peace and harmony.”
The Himachal Pradesh Congress has appealed to the public and party cadres to join in large numbers and maintain the decorum of the solemn occasion. UNI ML SSP
