Rights and privileges of Panchayat representatives being snatched by Nitish govt: Tejaswi

Patna, April 24 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Prasad Yadav accused the Nitish Kumar government of "intimidating" panchayat representatives through officials and snatching their rights and privileges.
Yadav said here on Thursday that the state government was not interested in strengthening the panchayati raj system. It was snatching their privileges for which the panchayat representatives demonstrated, but were forced by the officials to attend the rally of Prime Minister Modi held in Madhubani on the occasion of the Panchayati Raj Day.
Speaking about unemployment and migration, Yadav said that it was the maximum in Bihar. He said that both the Centre and the state government "gave unfair treatment" to the state and usurped its rights.
Bihar has the lowest per capita income and the highest migration, he said adding that there are no factories and industries in the state where farmers income was also the lowest.
He said the Centre has closed the chapter of the special state category for Bihar which was neither getting any financial assistant or any package.
The leader of the opposition claimed that the people of Bihar wanted a change in guard because the state was getting step-motherly treatment from the Centre which was providing all financial assistance to Gujarat.
Yadav said that if voted to power, the Grand Alliance government would provide Rs 2,500 monthly to the women and assured to provide cooking gas cylinder at Rs 500. He said that the social security pension and disability pension would be increased to Rs 1,500 per month and 200 units of electricity would be given free to the people.
The RJD leader said that if voted to power his government would implement 100% domicile policy and promised to implement the resolutions it had taken for providing employment and jobs
