IGIMS to be developed at a cost of Rs 1,050 cr

Patna, May, 23 (UNI) Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said the plan to rejuvenate Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) at a total cost of Rs 1,050 crore, was in the final stage.
While laying foundation stone for construction of various infrastructure projects, Pandey said here on Friday that the state government has made a provision of Rs 1,050 crore to develop IGIMS as a super specialty hospital of eastern India. Out of these, a plan of Rs 750 crore has been prepared and will be inaugurated next month, while plans of Rs 300 crore have been approved by the government and will be completed in the next few months, he added.
The minister said the number of seats for MBBS studies in IGIMS has increased to 150.
As many as 1,700 beds were available and 1700 more new beds were being arranged with which the number of beds would increase to 3,400.
In addition to the medical facilities, a multi-level parking would be made at IGIMS at an expenditure of Rs 76.47 crore.
He said that apart from this, a lecture theatre would be constructed at a cost of Rs 96.36 crore, a hostel for MBBS students at an expenditure of Rs 18.45 crore and an eight-storey dental hospital building would be made in the IGIMS campus at Rs 91.70 crore.
A children's cancer ward, two ultra-modern operation theatres, a 20-bed Creative Care Medicine unit, ultra-modern physiotherapy and dialysis machines will be inaugurated at IGIMS in June.
