Guwahati, Apr 3 (UNI) The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to establish key infrastructure for space-related activities in Assam, aimed at enhancing the safety of space assets and supporting India's weather advisory services.
"Shri Keshab Mahanta, Assam’s Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, IT, Science, Technology, and Climate Change, along with Dr V Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space, and Chairman, ISRO, undertook a reconnaissance visit to the proposed site for the project," ISRO said on X on Thursday.
The multi-purpose facility will play a crucial role in bolstering India's space capabilities, while also serving as a centre for research and technological advancements, ISRO said.
"Shri Mahanta assured full cooperation from the state government and proposed the establishment of a space museum in the region to benefit students and the public," it added.
Dr Narayanan welcomed the proposal and assured ISRO's support in the endeavour.
