Jammu, Mar 19 (UNI) Police have arrested one driver on Wednesday with contraband of poppy straw in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that while conducting random vehicle checking at Jakhani Naka, police intercepted a load carrier coming from the Kashmir side towards Udhampur.
The vehicle was driven by Haseen of Baghra, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
During the search, two plastic gunny bags were found concealed inside empty vegetable crates, and upon checking, a total of 40 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the accused, was immediately arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered under relevant sections, and an investigation is underway.
