Kerala's healthcare built on lies is crumbling: Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Thiruvananthapuram, July 3 (UNI) Reacting to the collapse of a building block of the Kottayam Medical College, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the State's healthcare sector, built on a foundation of lies, is crumbling.
"Today’s incident of a building collapse at Kottayam Medical College that claimed a life is the latest example of this downfall," the BJP leader said in a message.
The government attempted to cover up this episode by claiming that the collapsed structure was an unused building, he alleged.
"If that is the case, the government must explain how someone lost their life. The health department has a responsibility to ensure the safety of patients visiting hospitals."
"If the building posed a danger, why were warning signs not posted and entry to the area restricted? The administration owes the people an explanation."
The government is playing with the lives of people who come to these hospitals with its completely irresponsible approach, he said.
"Recently, the Head of the Urology Department at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College himself revealed that surgeries had to be halted due to lack of equipment. There are even situations where essential medicines are unavailable in hospitals."
Central government schemes like Ayushman Bharat brought in by the Modi government are not being implemented, he pointed out.
The Karunya scheme is also in a state of neglect. In this situation, the so-called “No.1 healthcare” that the LDF boasts about is nothing but a bloated balloon. Each incident continues to underline this fact.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who is no longer fit to remain in his position even for a moment, must resign and step down, he said. UNI DS SSP
