Maha: MNS president asks party workers to halt agitation for use of Marathi

Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray on Saturday asked the party workers to halt the agitation for time being to enforce use of Marathi in banks and other establishments, as the party has created enough awareness on the issue.
In a letter to party workers, Thackeray said there is no issue in halting this agitation now, because they have created enough awareness on the issue.
The letter further reads, "I have seen a statement of the Chief Minister in which he has said that no one will be allowed to take the law in their own hands. We are also not interested to take the law into our hands, but it is the responsibility of the government to follow the law. I expect the government to follow the law regarding the use of Marathi language in all establishments across Maharashtra."
It may be recalled that addressing the party’s annual Gudi Padwa rally at Shivaji Park last week, the MNS chief had said, “In our Mumbai, they tell us that they cannot speak Marathi… they will get a slap on the face. Don’t tell me about the country and all. Every state has its own language, and it must be respected. In Mumbai, Marathi should be respected.”
