Maha: Night flights from Shirdi Airport begin

Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) Night flights to and from Shirdi International Airport officially commenced on auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa festival, after the successful completion of asphalting work of the runway.
Air transport services to Shirdi have reached new heights due to efforts of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) and the concerned regulatory bodies, according to an official media statement issued here on Monday.
With this expansion, Shirdi Airport will handle a total of 11 flights (22 movements) per day, serving around 2,200 passengers per day. This is being considered a major achievement for the infrastructure and aviation sectors.
This new phase will benefit pilgrims as well as tourists, and IndiGo Airlines has added two new aircraft to its service. Notably, a regular flight with a capacity of 78 passengers has been started on the Hyderabad-Shirdi-Hyderabad route. This service has been started as a gift to the pilgrims on auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi festivals.
Many airlines have also expressed their desire to start more services to Shirdi, the statement added.
