Manipur: Women's Commission reviews conditions of displaced persons

Imphal Mar 19 (UNI ) Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and District Administration Thoubal reviewed the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDP) at DC Thoubal Office Complex , Thoubal district on Wednesday.
Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang Chairperson, MSCW, who chaired the meeting, expressed happiness as the District Administration is trying its best to help the needs of the IDPs.
She also urged all departments to organise awareness programme for the women living in different relief camps in the district.
W Phajatombi Devi, Member Secretary MSCW, said that Manipur State Commission for Women was established as a statutory body at the state level to safeguard the interest of women and to look into women related issues.
She said that the present living status of the IDPs in different relief camps is of great concern. The IDPs, especially women, are facing lots of problems. She also urged the departments to maintain the needs of the IDPs in every possible way.
Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, A Subhash Singh, said that the District Administration in coordination with the various related departments is monitoring the needs of the IDPs of the different relief camps in the district. He said that the Skill development training was given to the displaced persons from time to time to sustain their livelihood.
