Meghalaya extends One-Time Settlement Scheme 2025 until April 30

Shillong, Mar 31 (UNI) The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL), a public sector company responsible for the distribution of electricity in Meghalaya, on Monday extended its One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme 2025 until April 30, providing consumers with an additional month to clear their outstanding electricity dues.
Initially, the OTS was set to conclude on March 31,2025, the extension follows significant participation and positive response since the scheme’s launch by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on March 4, in the presence of the Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal.
“We decided to extend the One-Time Settlement Scheme till April 30, 2025 after we received feedback from officers that many people are still left out who are willing to avail this scheme,” Chairman Cum Managing Director of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited, Sanjay Goyal said.
Goyal said the OTS Scheme 2025 is aimed at easing the financial burden on Domestic and BPL consumers with a connected load of 5 kW and below who have faced disconnection due to non-payment.
The scheme offers a 100 per cent waiver on the Delay Payment Surcharge (DPC), allowing consumers to settle their dues through a one-time full payment or an interest-free installment plan, he said.
So far, 12,262 consumers have enrolled in the scheme, leading to the clearance of outstanding dues worth Rs. 15.97 crore. Of this, Rs. 11.13 crore accounts for the principal amount, while Rs. 4.84 crore has been waived, Goyal said
MePDCL has urged eligible consumers to take advantage of the extended deadline to avoid further penalties.
Those interested can visit the nearest MePDCL office or call the toll-free number 1912 for further details and enrollment procedures.
