Miss World 2025 opening ceremony to showcase Telangana's cultural grandeur on May 10

Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) The grand opening ceremony of Miss World 2025, set to take place on May 10 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, promises to be a spectacular display of beauty and culture, with the Telangana government orchestrating a celebration that blends tradition with glamour.
The event is being held with great prestige, in alignment with the vision of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
In keeping with the CM’s emphasis on cultural pride, the festivities will highlight Telangana’s rich artistic heritage through a range of traditional, tribal, and classical performances. From folk and tribal dances to lesser-known rural art forms, the showcase aims to reflect the diverse and vibrant spirit of Telangana to a global audience.
To welcome contestants arriving from around the world, cultural welcome ceremonies were conducted at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from May 3 to 9. Artists performing Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Perini, Kathak, and Mangala Vadyam welcomed participants around the clock with traditional saffron tilak and aarti.
The opening ceremony will begin with the rendition of the Telangana State Anthem, penned by world-renowned poet Dr Andesri and composed by Oscar-winning music director M M Keeravani. A choir of 50 students trained by noted music educator Komanduri Ramachari will perform the anthem.
One of the major highlights of the evening will be a grand Perini Lasya dance performance by 250 women artists. Directed by Perini Sandeep and set to music by Phani Narayana, the 10-minute piece will celebrate beauty, culture, and women’s empowerment. The dancers will form symbolic shapes such as stars, butterflies, and the Miss World logo during their performance.
As a prelude to the global contestants’ introduction, traditional art forms from different regions of Telangana will be showcased by continent. Notable performances include the horn dance by the Ramakrishna group from Bhadrachalam, the Gussadi dance by Katle Sridhar’s group from Adilabad, drum ensembles by Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar recipients, and Banjara women’s acrobatic performances by the Srimati Swapna group.
Adding to the evening’s splendour, the Oggudolu folk tradition — emblematic of Telangana’s rural life — will be performed by another Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar awardee, Sri Chaudharapalli Ravi Kumar’s troupe.
The program will conclude with a grand fusion of all art forms, symbolising the unity and diversity of Telangana’s cultural heritage.
The state government has carefully curated the event as a celebration of both beauty and tradition, making the Miss World 2025 opening ceremony a true feast for the senses, an official statement said on Friday.
