Mizoram to close fiscal year with Rs. 900 crore cash balance: CM

Aizawl, Mar 31 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who also holds the Finance portfolio, announced on Monday that the state will close the current financial year with a cash balance of Rs. 900 crore in its Reserve Bank of India (RBI) account.
Lalduhoma, accompanied by his wife Liansailovi, visited the Aizawl south and Aizawl north treasuries on the final day of the fiscal year to assess financial transactions and the state's cash position. He commended the Finance Department and treasury officials for ensuring timely financial settlements.
The chief minister stated that his Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government successfully cleared all submitted pension claims, disbursed provident funds to applicants, and settled outstanding medical bills.
"Despite substantial expenses, including liability clearances involving large sums, we have managed to maintain a cash balance exceeding Rs. 900 crore with the RBI. This marks an increase from Rs. 500 crore in the 2023-2024 fiscal," he said, noting that the final figure would be confirmed on April 1.
Finance commissioner Vanlaldina Fanai, Finance Secretary Ramchuana, and other senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
A senior Finance Department official attributed the strong cash balance to sound fiscal management and prudent financial planning, despite significant fund releases towards the end of the financial year.
