Aizawl, Mar 4 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday presented a
Rs. 15,198.76 crore budget for 2025-26, along with Rs. 3,512.33 crore in supplementary demands for the current fiscal.
Revenue expenditure accounts for Rs. 12,540.20 crore (82.51Percent) of the budget, driven by salary increments, DA hikes, pension liabilities, and infrastructure maintenance. Capital expenditure stands at Rs. 2,658.56 crore (17.49 percent) for long-term investments.
Lalduhoma ruled out new taxes but emphasized strengthening tax administration and increasing revenue from the online lottery. The fiscal deficit for 2025-26 is estimated at Rs. 1,651.68 crore (4.57 percent of GSDP).
Key allocations include Rs. 350 crore for the ‘Bana Kaih’ scheme, Rs. 500 crore for power purchase, and Rs. 100 crore for road maintenance. The road fund board’s allocation rose from Rs. 40 crore to Rs. 55 crore, aided by fuel cess. The Mizoram State Healthcare Scheme’s allocation has also been increased to Rs. 50 crore.
