Patna, Mar 12 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and leader of opposition in Bihar Legislative Council Rabri Devi had a heated exchange on the issues of law and order, women and development in the legislative council during the pre lunch sitting on Wednesday.
The opposition while raising the issue of rising crime and deteriorating law and order created bedlam in the state legislative council.
Intervening in the ruckus, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that whatever development was visible it was done by his government. They did nothing when they were in power, Kumar said pointing towards the opposition and especially Rabri Devi accusing her of being unaware of the work taken up by him.
Kumar said that it was he who initiated several measures for education of women and their empowerment. In addition to this Kumar said his government introduced several schemes for welfare of Muslims. He further said that his government concentrated on the development of every section of the society.
Speaking in detail about the development of infrastructure in various sectors, Kumar said that the work done during his tenure since he resumed power on November 24, 2005 and the achievements of the previous government should be publicised so that the people should know everything
Earlier Rabri Devi had a heated exchange of words with Kumar when the latter said no work was done by his previous government.
Following this, the opposition led by Rabri Devi staged a noisy walkout.
Later while talking to the news persons in the Council premises Rabri Devi accused Nitish Kumar of humiliating women. She alleged it seems Kumar attends the house consuming "hemp" and speaks irrelevant about women under its influence.
She also blamed Kumar for humiliating her by making personal comments.
