Illegal poppy plants destroyed in Manipur

Imphal, Mar 6 (UNI) A joint team of Forest and security personnel destroyed poppy plantation in two different places during the last 24 hours, police said.
He said on Thursday that illegal poppy destruction operation was held at Kangpokpi District and destroyed ten acres of poppy fields. Three farm huts, along with fertilizers and chemicals used by cultivators, were burnt on the spot. A regular case has been registered for investigation.
In another operation a joint team of Security Forces and the Forest Division of Tengnoupal conducted an illegal poppy destruction operation in the hill range of Tengnoupal District, and destroyed 40 acres in the side hill range. A regular case has been registered for investigation.
