Aizawl, Feb 19 (UNI) In a major crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, Mizoram Police and Assam Rifles have seized a large quantity of methamphetamine and crystal meth near Zokhawthar village.
The contraband, smuggled from Myanmar’s Chin state, was recovered on Tuesday during a joint operation along the Vaikai area on the banks of the Tiau River, which forms the Mizoram-Myanmar border, police said on Wednesday.
Officials confirmed that the seized drugs included 7.1 kilogrammes of methamphetamine tablets and 3.1 kilogrammes of crystal meth, with an estimated market value of Rs 71.15 crore. The substances were found in possession of Vanlalhruaia (59), a resident of Aizawl, who was immediately taken into custody.
