HITO urges Meghalaya DGP to take action against Assam CM

Shillong, Mar 4 (UNI) The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO), a pressure group in Meghalaya, on Tuesday wrote to Meghalaya Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang to “take necessary action” against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for “tarnishing the reputation of a state university” - University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).
In its letter to the DGP, HITO President Donbok Dkhar said that the Assam CM has claimed that “USTM is involved in issuing fake certificates and degrees, including PhDs, which are supposedly being sold without conducting proper examinations.”
“His (Assam Chief Minister) unfounded allegations have unjustly tarnished the reputation of a state university that has made significant contributions to the educational landscape, including the establishment of the first State Medical College in Meghalaya,” Dkhar said.
