Security personnel launch massive combing operations in Manipur valley

Imphal, Feb 21 (UNI) Security personnel arrested 34 persons including 16 suspected militants during a massive combing operations conducted in various parts of Manipur specially in the valley areas during the last 24 hours.
Security personnel cordoned off some areas and verified the antecedents of the individuals. The situation was tense at Kakching district on Friday as security personnel rounded up about 18 youths. Many parents claimed that the security personnel were disturbing the students as the Class X and XII examinations are going on and the youths were forced to come out for verification.
Police said thirteen active members of KYKL were apprehended from Moirang Kiyam Leikai,in Bishnupur District. They were identified as Rojit , Hemlet , Amarjit , Bikram , Deepak , Indrakumar , Swamajit, Premananda , Nimai , Ringku , Inao and Ibomcha . Some live rounds and walkie talkie sets were seized from them. In another operation another cadre of KYKL identified as Kiran was nabbed from Kakching district.
Manipur Police nabbed a cadre of UNLF(P) identified as Paming from Imphal East while a cadre of KCP(City Meitei) identified as Amuba was nabbed from Bishnupur district.
In an operation at Kakching district police recovered SLR , Single barrel, Pumpi (pipe bomb launcher), Hand Grenade , handset, Tear gas smoke shell , IED (weighing 8 kg. ), and other materials while in another operation at Imphal West 7.62 MM Sniper Rifle (modified), 9 mm Pistol , SBBL Gun, were recovered.
At Jiribam and Imphal East districts operations were also launched in which many arms and ammunition were also recovered , Police said.
