Cable Landing Station to be set up to make Odisha a global digital hub

Bhubaneswar, Mar 19 (UNI) A Cable Landing Station will be established in Puri to position Odisha as a global digital hub.
The Electronics and IT Department of the Odisha government has taken the initiative to establish the cable landing station.
Official sources stated that this landmark initiative will significantly enhance the state’s digital infrastructure, catalyze investments in data centres, attract top-tier technology players, and generate employment opportunities.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who reviewed the progress of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) being prepared jointly by RailTel and Deloitte, here on Wednesday, emphasised the need for industry consultations with hyperscalers and key ecosystem players to ensure a comprehensive and future-ready implementation.
Furthermore, he directed the early submission of the DPR for approval, with a focus on completing the project within a three-year timeline.
The Odisha Cable Landing Station is a flagship initiative of the state government, designed with a strategic vision for scalability and ecosystem development. The government is committed to transforming Odisha into a hub for digital investments, unlocking immense opportunities for businesses, technology companies, and the workforce.
Puri emerged as the most strategic location for developing this Cable Landing Station due to key advantages such as its prime geographic position, suitable coastline, potential for future scalability, and robust infrastructure.
The Cable Landing Station will provide direct international fiber connectivity, reducing latency, improving internet speed, and fostering Odisha’s emergence as a premier destination for hyperscalers, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and enterprises.
With this initiative, Odisha is set to become a critical node in the global digital network, strengthening India’s position in the data-driven economy.
Additionally, the Cable Landing Station will bring significant social benefits, including digital inclusion, employment generation, community development, and social equity.
