Odisha to develop major adventure tourism destinations

Bhubaneswar, May 20 (UNI) Odisha is set to develop its natural attractions and scenic locations into major destinations for adventure tourism.
According to official sources, all 30 districts of the state will be mapped and developed to promote various adventure tourism activities.
The government has already planned initiatives such as rafting in Satkosia and hot air balloon rides over Hirakud. Similar facilities are also being considered in other locations across the state.
The Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines–2025 were finalized on Tuesday during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Chief Minister Majhi stated that, along with other sectors, tourism will be developed under the vision of “Think India, Think Odisha.” He emphasized that adventure tourism in the state will be made so appealing that Odisha becomes the first destination people think of when planning a trip to India.
These guidelines are part of a broader vision for the comprehensive development of Odisha.
The initiative aims to transform the state’s naturally beautiful and exciting locations into prime adventure tourism hubs.
As per the guidelines, youth will be trained and certified in various forms of adventure tourism, spanning water, land, and aerial activities, creating significant employment opportunities. Private sector involvement will be actively encouraged through the ‘Go Adventure’ portal.
Additionally, attractive incentives will be provided to private investors under the Odisha Tourism Policy–2022 to boost the tourism sector investment.
The state government remains committed to establishing Odisha as a globally competitive and attractive destination for tourism.
