Punjab: 95 kg heroin, 52 kg opium recovered

Ludhiana, Mar 18 (UNI) Punjab police have seized 95 kg of heroin, over 52 kg of Opium, and more than Rs 64 lakh cash as part of the state government's anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' till March 16, a senior minister said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference here, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh highlighted the success of the campaign in Moga, describing the 'War Against Drugs' campaign as extremely encouraging with positive outcomes being seen everywhere.
He said across Punjab so far 95 kg of Heroin, more than 52 kg of Opium, and over Rs 64 lakh in cash have been seized.
Additionally, 1651 FIRs have been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and 2575 drug traffickers have been arrested.
Apart from this, approximately 7.25 lakh intoxicating pills, 1128 kg poppy husk, 17 kg cannabis,
4.5 kg charas, 1.25 kg of Ice, about 500 bottles of illicit Liquor, 6.25 kg of intoxicating powder, and 279 injections have also been seized.
Numerous buildings linked to drug traffickers have been demolished, he said.
Additionally, 22 motorcycles, 8 mobile phones and 4 cars linked to drug trafficking have been confiscated.
During the operation, over 4 kg of gold, including a necklace and a chain, and 1.25 kg of silver have also been recovered.
He said that the state's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is fully committed to eradicating drugs from Punjab. The police are working round the clock to take action against drug traffickers. UNI GS SSP
