UP: Woman killed for dowry in Pilibhit

Pilibhit (UP), Apr 28 (UNI) A woman was murdered allegedly for failing the dowry demand of her in-laws in Barkheda area of Pilibhit district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Deepmala, a resident of Bahadurpur village under Barkheda police station area, was married to Munendra, a resident of Chathiya village, in November 2023. "Deepmala's family has alleged that dowry was given as per the capacity in the marriage. Despite this, the in-laws used to harass Deepmala continuously when the additional demand of gold chain and car was not met," they said.
Police sources said that the family alleged that the in-laws first poisoned Deepmala and hanged her. "When her condition deteriorated, she was admitted to a private hospital in the city where she died during treatment," they said.
