Govt doctors involved in private practice to face action in UP

Lucknow, Mar 18 (UNI) Departmental action will be taken against doctors involved in private practice despite taking non-practice allowance (NPA) in Uttar Pradesh, official sources said here on Tuesday.
Sources said that Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has expressed displeasure over the information of private practice by doctors taking NPA and has given instructions for departmental action. "Doctors of government hospitals are prohibited from private practice. For this, the government is giving thousands of rupees every month to them as NPA," they said.
Sources said that despite this, some doctors are involved in private practice. "17 doctors of the state have been found involved in private practice, including 10 in Balrampur district, 6 in Hathras and 1 medical officer in Kushinagar," they said.
Sources said that departmental action will be taken against these doctors. In this regard, Principal Secretary of Health Department Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma has been directed to take action.
