Amaravati, Mar 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday congratulated NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore for returning to earth safely.
Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said in the house that Sunita Williams has Indian roots and she had spent 286 days in space.
She had spent a total number of 608 days in space so far, the Speaker said.
Ayyanna Patrudu appreciated her for her courage, spending long days in space and carrying out research. All should draw inspiration from the astronauts, he added.
“On behalf of me and the members of AP Legislative Assembly, I welcome and congratulate her,” the Speaker said.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan extended his appreciation to NASA.
In a message here today, he said “This is a historic moment in space exploration and I extend my deepest appreciation to NASA and salute everyone who played a vital role in bringing back Indian-origin American astronaut Mrs Sunita Williams and American astronaut Mr. Butch Wilmore safely to Earth today aboard the Dragon Capsule after their extended space mission."
Former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore on their safe return to earth.
“Your willpower and dedication are an inspiration, and we are all so proud of you”, Reddy said.
