BJP questions Cong on Mekedatu, Almatti projects

Bengaluru, June 2 (UNI) Karnataka BJP leader R Ashoka on Monday accused the Congress government of failing to allocate funds for the crucial Mekedatu and Almatti irrigation projects, while also alleging misuse of taxpayers’ money by disbursing crores to party workers instead of honouring welfare commitments.
Addressing the media, Ashoka said the decision to raise the height of the Almatti dam has already been finalised by the Central Government and dismissed Maharashtra’s interference in the matter. “We are not constructing a new dam but raising the existing Almatti dam,” he clarified.
Turning to the Mekedatu project, Ashoka challenged Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar’s readiness to meet the Central Government, asking, “How much money have you allocated in the budget for raising Almatti or for the Mekedatu schemes?”
