Kochi connects with KFON, 2,172.2 kms of cables laid

Kochi, Mar 19 (UNI) Kerala’s own broadband service; KFON connections are steadily increasing across homes, offices, and commercial establishments in the district.
Offering high-speed internet at affordable rates, KFON continues to attract more users. So far, 4,406 connections have been provided in Ernakulam district under the initiative.
A total of 2,172.2 kilometers of cables have been laid in the district, including 296.38 kilometers of OPGW cables installed through KSEB transmission towers and 1,875.79 kilometers of ADSS cables via KSEB poles.
Currently, 1,605 government offices, including the Collectorate, are connected to the KFON network. Prominent institutions such as Travancore Cochin Chemicals, GCDA, AG’s Office, KINFRA, Startup Mission, and Entry App are also using KFON services.
As part of its ‘Connecting the Unconnected’ initiative, KFON aims to extend internet connectivity to tribal settlements in Kutampuzha in collaboration with various institutions.
In the district, 389 BPL households have received KFON connections, along with 3,385 commercial connections provided through local network operators.
A total of 232 local network operators are working with KFON across various parts of the district. Additionally, the district has 7 ILL connections and 31 SME connections.
Registrations for new connections are currently open. Those interested in availing a new household connection can register via the ‘Ente KFON’ mobile app or the KFON website. Registrations are also available through the toll-free number 1800 570 4466.
