Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) On the day Tahawwur Rana -- one of the co-conspirators in the 26/ 11 Mumbai terror attacks was brought to India, the family members of victims on Thursday demanded immediate punishment to one of the plotters in the case.
Eknath Omble, the brother of Ashok Chakra awardee and 26/11 martyr Tukaram Omble, urged the central government to hang the terrorist and send a strong message to Pakistan.
Tukaram Omble, a sub-inspector in the Mumbai Police, displayed unparalleled courage during the 26/11 terror attacks by grabbing hold of terrorist Ajmal Kasab’s rifle, ensuring his arrest.
Retired inspector Hemant Bavdhankar, who along with his team took on Abu Ismail, the head of the 10-member group, said that Rana should not be spared.
"For Rana's extradition, we presented our case in the US Supreme Court, and the court accepted it. We made our case, after which the court handed Rana over to us. Every Indian will want that Rana be tried in the court here and given the strictest punishment. This will fulfil the wish of every Indian, and their wish is that he should be tried in an Indian court and get strict punishment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Taufiq, a tea seller known as Chhotu Chaiwala, whose alertness helped a large number of people escape the attack, says: “For India, there is no need to provide him with a cell. Biryani and facilities like those given to Kasab. There should be a separate law for terrorists, a system should be in place so that they are hanged within 2-3 months.”
Chhotu run a tea stall outside CST railway station, which was one of the places of terror attacks.
