None will be spared in ex-cop murder in Tirunelveli : CM

Chennai, Mar 19 (UNI) None will be spared in the brutal killing of retired Sub-Inspector

of Police in Tirunelveli district in broad daylight yesterday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

M.K. Stalin assured the State Assembly on Wednesday.

Replying to a Special Calling Attention Motion given notice of by members of various

parties, including the Principal Opposition AIADMK, the Chief Minister promised that

all those responsible for the murder of Zakhir Hussain Bijili, a retired police sub-inspector

in Tirunelveli, who had served in security wing of late CM M Karunanidhi, would be brought

to justice.

Asserting that the DMK regime would not allow anyone to take the law into their hands,

Mr Stalin said none involved in criminal activities could escape the clutches of law.

He said a probe was on after the police registered a case based on complaint filed by

the wife of Zakhir Hussain, who had already released a video claiming threat to his life

over a land dispute.

Stating that two people have surrendered before the court in connection with the murder,

he said an Inspector of Police has been placed under suspension.

The video released by Zakhir Hussain, prior to his killing on the death threats to him

was being probed by special teams,” the Chief Minister said.

The Calling Attention Motion was moved by Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK

General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, who alleged that the incident was yet

another example of deteriorating law and order situation in the State and wanted the

DMK government to bring all those involved in the killing to book.

Earlier, condemning the murder, leaders of various parties yesterday sought to know

the fate of public, in the light of an ex-Cop, who had served as security personnel for

the former Chief Minister, had suffered a tragic fate.
