Odisha: Jilted lover sentenced to life in a murder case

Puri, Mar 31 (UNI) First Additional Sessions Judge Saikat Patra on Monday sentenced one Judhistir Swain (35),a jilted lover, to a life term for brutally murdering Sasmita Biswal and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000.

As per prosecution, the father of the deceased, Sasmita on December 13,2018, filed a missing complaint with Satyabadi police stating that his daughter had gone to Satyabadi to attend a birthday party but did not return.

Police registered a missing case and during investigation found that she was abducted by Judhistir Swain of Kumar village under the Delang Police station limits on a bike.

Police raided several places to rescue the girl. In the meanwhile, Judhistir surrendered at Satyabadi police station and confessed that he had killed her as she refused to marry him and disposed of the body in Chandaka forest.
Police recovered the severed head and torso of Sasmita and registered a case of murder and chargesheeted Judhistir to stand trial in the sessions court.

Additional Public Prosecutor SN Tripathy conducted the case of prosecution case in the court.
