Odisha to implement MAMATA-PMMVY, increases assistance for birth of girl child

Bhubaneswar, May 14 (UNI) In a major decision, the Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved the joint implementation of the MAMATA scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), effective from April 1, 2025.
The merged scheme will be known as MAMATA-PMMVY.
Briefing the media after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that earlier, under the MAMATA scheme, beneficiaries received Rs.10,000 for the birth of a girl child. Under the new MAMATA-PMMVY scheme, this amount has been increased to Rs.12,000.
He further said that beneficiaries will now receive Rs 10,000 for the birth of a boy child. Women from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) will receive Rs.12,000 for the birth of a girl child and Rs.10,000 for the birth of a boy child for all live births.
In addition, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), who were previously receiving incentives of Rs.200 and Rs.100 respectively, will now receive Rs.250 and Rs.150 under the revised scheme.
The eligibility criteria under the Government of India’s PMMVY will also apply to the MAMATA-PMMVY scheme. The Chief Minister noted that the total expenditure on MAMATA-PMMVY over the next five years is estimated to be around Rs.2,670 crore.
