Rajanna to file complaint with Karnataka Home Minister over honey trap

Tumakuru, Mar 25 (UNI) Karnataka Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna on Tuesday announced that he would be filing a formal complaint with Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara regarding an alleged honey-trap attempt targeting him.
He stated the complaint would provide a detailed account of how he was approached and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Addressing a press conference here, Rajanna claimed that an individual had visited his Bengaluru residence on two occasions, each time accompanied by a different woman. "During the second visit, he introduced a woman as a high court lawyer," Rajanna said, emphasising that he suspected a larger conspiracy behind the events.
The minister revealed that his letter to the home minister elaborates on the incident and the reasons for the delay in filing the complaint. He urged investigators to determine whether the individuals involved were acting independently or at the behest of others. Rajanna expressed confidence that he could identify the person who allegedly attempted to trap him if confronted.
The allegations, initially raised by Rajanna in the Karnataka Assembly last week, have created a political uproar in the state and were also discussed in Parliament. The minister further alleged that a total of 47 legislators across party lines had been targeted in similar schemes.
Following these revelations, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Supreme Court seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the allegations. The petitioner, Binay Kumar Singh from Jharkhand, argued that serious claims made in the state legislature warranted an independent investigation. The PIL also suggested that prominent personalities, including judges, were victims of the alleged honey-trapping network.
Reacting to the PIL, Rajanna distanced himself from claims involving the judiciary. "I never stated that judges were honey-trapped. My statement was that leaders from both Congress and BJP are being targeted within their own parties to malign their image. The PIL appears to be based on false rumours," he clarified.
The controversy has added to the ongoing political tensions in Karnataka, with opposition parties demanding an impartial investigation into the matter. The state government has yet to announce its stance on ordering an official probe. UNI BDN SSP
