Patna, Mar 30 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said that the RJD regime in Bihar was "Jungle Raj " as there was no safety and security of life and property of the people.
Kumar while addressing a function of the Cooperative Department, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was on dais, said that law and order had collapsed during the RJD regime in Bihar. It was "Jungle Raj " as people were feeling unsafe and insecure, and they did not dare to come out of their homes after Sunset, he added.
" Communal amity was also not maintained as clashes between Hindus and Muslims were the order of the day, and RJD government was not bothered to take any concrete steps to prevent such incidents ", Chief Minister said adding that his government had taken steps to ensure peace and communal amity after coming to power in 2005. His government had started constructing boundary walls around graveyards, and more than 8000 graveyards were covered in the first phase, while another 1273 graveyards were marked for fencing in the second phase. Out of 1273 graveyards, boundary walls had already been constructed around 746, while the process of construction of boundary walls was going on around others, he added.
Kumar said that 10,73,000 Self Help Groups(SHGs) of women were constituted in rural areas by his government after taking loans from the World Bank. It covered 1.35 crore women who were named as Jeevika Didis, he further said, adding that 36,000 SHGs were constituted in urban areas covering 3,80,00 Didis.
Chief Minister also recalled the support extended by the Narendra Modi government to Bihar by clearing several projects in the road, health, infrastructure, and tourism sectors involving expenses of thousands of crores of rupees. Support being extended by Narendra Modi government would help Bihar in moving path of accelerated pace of development, he noted
Kumar recalled how the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had extended his support in making him Chief Minister of Bihar. His blessings helped him in becoming Chief Minister, which he could never forget, he noted
