Odisha CM lays foundation stone for 'Integrated Development of Madhusudan Das Birthplace'

Bhubaneswar, Apr 1 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the 'Integrated Development of Madhusudan Das Birthplace.'
Addressing a state-level Odisha Day program in Satyabhamapur, the birthplace of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das, Majhi stated that the project, being developed with an investment of Rs.21 crore, will include improvements to Madhubabu's birthplace, the construction of an interpretation center, the enhancement of Entudishal, the installation of a statue, the building of a guest house and a library, and the introduction of a light and sound system at the reservoir.
The Chief Minister described Satyabhamapur as a sacred site and a pilgrimage for the people of Odisha. He announced that the location would be developed as a center of Odia nationalism.
"Satyabhamapur is not just the birthplace of Madhubabu but a place of pilgrimage for every Odia. This land gave birth to the visionary who spearheaded the rise of the Odia language in modern India and played a crucial role in the formation of an independent Odisha province," he said.
He further remarked that Odisha Day is a celebration of Odia identity and pride. "We are commemorating Odisha Day in the very land of Madhu Babu, which laid the foundation for the creation of a separate Odisha province," he added.
Majhi emphasized that while the sacrifices and struggles of Odisha's sons and daughters in the formation of the state can never be repaid, the government remains committed to realizing their dreams by building a prosperous Odisha.
The Chief Minister also announced that the state government will celebrate Odia Pakhya from April 1 (Odisha Divas) to April 14 (Odia New Year) to promote Odia identity. He urged the people of Odisha to embrace their cultural heritage by consuming traditional Odia food, wearing Odia attire, conversing in Odia, and reading Odia newspapers.
On the occasion of Odisha Day, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Odias residing within the state, outside the state, and across the world.
He highlighted that Odisha was the first linguistic state in India and that its struggle for statehood set a precedent for the formation of other states based on linguistic identity. "Odisha’s movement for statehood served as a guiding light in the formation of modern India. After Odisha, most states in the country were formed based on language," he noted.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to the great leaders who dedicated their lives to uniting the land of Odisha and establishing it as a separate state.
He recalled that the first significant meeting of the Utkal Sammelan was held in Cuttack in 1903 under the leadership of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das, to form an "Independent Odisha Province." The continuous efforts of the Utkal Sammelan, he stated, laid the foundation for the formation of the separate Odisha province.
Majhi concluded by expressing his confidence that Odisha will emerge as a beacon of progress for the entire country, propelled by the sacrifices and hard work of its 4.5 crore people.
