Bengaluru, Jun 20 (UNI) BJP State President and MLA Vijayendra Yediyurappa said that Union Home Minister and senior party leader Amit Shah has offered certain suggestions and directions to intensify the fight against the corrupt Congress government in Karnataka.
Speaking to the media today, Vijayendra stated, “This morning, I, along with former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, and Aravind Bellad, met the honourable Amit Shah Ji. We discussed the political situation in the state and current developments.”
He criticised the Congress government’s decision to increase the minority quota in housing schemes under the Housing Department from 10% to 15%, terming it an appeasement measure. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ensuring justice to all—Hindus, minorities, everyone—based on the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas’. The PM’s Kisan Samman scheme provides ₹6,000 to all farmers, not just Hindus,” he pointed out, adding that people from all communities and faiths benefit from the scheme.
He further said Modi’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign is also inclusive, not limited to Hindu girls.
However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is following a divisive policy, he alleged. “One cannot bring good by following divisive tactics. While the BJP continues its struggle on one side, the Chief Minister’s conduct is an insult to his position,” he added.
Vijayendra accused Siddaramaiah of running a Tughlaq Darbar and said the people of Karnataka will soon give him an apt response. On a question regarding coordination with JD(S), he said that discussions with HD Kumaraswamy and other MLAs would be held before the Assembly session.
Responding to a journalist’s question on an alleged audio clip of Congress MLA BR Patil claiming money was demanded for housing allotment, Vijayendra said, “After coming to power, Congress has turned the state government into the ATM of its high command. Earlier, they accused the BJP of 40% corruption. Now, if you ask the public or businessmen, they will tell you it’s 100% corruption. Even ruling party MLAs are now openly admitting to the rot.”
He alleged that no work gets done in any department without paying bribes, and accused the Chief Minister and his team of being complicit. “The BR Patil audio clip is just a small example,” he said, adding that the people have become disillusioned with the government.
On being asked about microfinance harassment in the Chief Minister’s home district, Vijayendra said Siddaramaiah had promised legislation but done nothing. “He gave big speeches then, but when such things happen in his own constituency, it raises questions about the state’s situation. Even in the Assembly, there was a discussion on microfinance harassment. The CM had promised a law but hasn't acted seriously,” he criticised.
He also accused the government of inaction after the RCB victory celebrations led to a stampede and 11 deaths. “Now they are pretending to bring in a new law. The government has forgotten its priorities and is mired in corruption. The people are suffering as a result,” he said.
On another question, he said the party is actively working to resolve minor internal issue.
