Mumbai, Mar 31 (UNI) Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut claimed on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday to possibly discuss his plans of resignation from the PM's post, thus paving the way for his successor from Maharashtra.
His statement has given way to a lot of discussion in political circles.
Responding to this claim, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis strongly criticised Raut, saying that there is no reason to look for Modi's successor right now.
"This (succession) is the Mughal culture," he noted.
"Modi is our leader. Modi will work for many years to come. And the entire country is looking at Modi as the Prime Minister in 2029. Therefore, it will not be appropriate to have such a discussion now and in Indian culture, children do not think about succession while their father is alive," added Fadnavis.
