Shivakumar confirms participation in Chennai delimitation meet

Bengaluru, Mar 15 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday confirmed his participation in the Chennai meeting on delimitation, convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Speaking to reporters here, Shivakumar stated that he had been consulted by his party high command and was representing Karnataka as per the leadership’s direction.
"The Tamil Nadu delegation met me, and the Honourable Chief Minister requested my participation. I have consulted my party high command on this issue, and my Chief Minister has also spoken to the party high command. Since he has a leg injury, he is finding it difficult to travel for the next 15 days. So, I am acting on the directions of my leadership and representing accordingly," Shivakumar said.
Addressing the 4% reservation issue, Shivakumar clarified that the reservation is not exclusively for Muslims but extends to all sections of minorities and backward classes. "Previously, a specific percentage was allocated, and we had made constitutional provisions accordingly. Our goal is to ensure that all sections receive fair representation, not just a select few," he stated.
The meeting in Chennai is expected to discuss key concerns over the upcoming delimitation exercise, which has sparked debates among southern states regarding political representation. Shivakumar’s participation underscores Karnataka’s involvement in the ongoing deliberations.
