Telangana Governor graces Bihar Diwas celebrations at Raj Bhavan

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, and the First Lady of the State, Sudha Dev Varma, attended the Bihar Foundation Day (Bihar Diwas) celebrations as Chief Guests at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, here on Saturday.

Extending warm greetings to all participants and invitees, the Governor paid tribute to the visionary leaders and people of Bihar who played a pivotal role in the state's formation and development.

He expressed his joy in joining the Bihar Diwas celebrations, which commemorate the creation of Bihar on March 22, 1912, when it was carved out of the Bengal Presidency.
Since India's independence, Bihar has remained an integral part of the Republic, making significant contributions to the nation’s cultural, spiritual, political, and educational heritage.

Highlighting Bihar’s rich history, Varma described it as the cradle of civilization, home to ancient centers of learning such as Nalanda and Vikramshila Universities. He also recalled its spiritual significance, as the land where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, shaping India’s intellectual and spiritual landscape.

The event was organized under the aegis of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting national integration through cultural exchange. The celebration of Bihar Diwas in Telangana exemplifies the spirit of unity in diversity.

As part of the program, a video message from the Governor of Bihar was screened, followed by a short film on the Four-Lion Emblem of the Bihar Regiment and a presentation by the Bihar Tourism Department, showcasing the state’s historical and cultural heritage.

The cultural segment of the evening featured traditional dance performances and artistic presentations, highlighting the vibrant ethos of Bihar.

The event was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including M Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Maj Gen Akhilesh Kumar, SM, GOC; Brig Sanjay V Kulkarni, Commander, 47 Infantry Brigade; senior officials from Raj Bhavan, and esteemed guests from Bihar settled in Hyderabad, a Raj Bhavan Communique said.
