Telangana Govt defends historic loan waiver, dismisses BRS criticism

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has strongly defended the state's ambitious loan waiver scheme, emphasising that the government has delivered on its promise to waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers.
During discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address on Saturday, Vikramarka urged BRS leaders to stop spreading misinformation about the scheme.
He stated that details of the loan waiver for each constituency are documented and will be publicly displayed in all villages to ensure transparency.

“We have waived Rs 237 crore in Gajwel, Rs 175 crore in Sircilla, and Rs 202 crore in Nirmal Nayokavargam,” Vikramarka said. He contrasted this with the previous BRS government's loan waiver in Siddipet, which amounted to Rs 96.62 crore, while under the current administration,
Rs 177 crore has been waived in the same region.
He further clarified that if necessary, the government would display these figures outside the Assembly to ensure accountability.
Meanwhile, Minister Komati Reddy highlighted that the state's loan waiver initiative amounted to a staggering Rs 21,000 crore, calling it unprecedented in the country.
He pointed out that 28,000 farmers in Jangaon had benefited from the waiver and questioned the BRS party's objections to this substantial relief measure.
Both leaders reaffirmed the government's commitment to fulfilling all its promised schemes and condemned what they described as "false propaganda" from the opposition.
"This state treasury is for the people, not for the BRS leaders," Vikramarka asserted.
