Telangana Minister expresses anguish over harassment on social media

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka expressed her anguish over the harassment she has faced on social media.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly lobby on Saturday, Seethakka shared her struggles, stating, "I have faced considerable mental distress due to social media. My morphed photos have circulated, causing me immense emotional turmoil."
She emphasised the challenges women face in politics, adding, "It is difficult for women to rise in politics. When we reach a certain level, such harassment becomes a tactic to trouble us."
The Minister, who has actively used social media for social service, expressed her disappointment in facing such issues.
Criticising the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Seethakka alleged that the party misuses social media to spread falsehoods. "Social media damages families with content like body shaming and photo morphing, which has increased significantly since last year," she remarked.
Recalling instances where innocent moments, such as siblings holding hands, were misinterpreted online, Seethakka stressed the need for responsible use of social media.
She recalled her dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic, for which she was also criticised on social media.
"Lies define BRS," the Minister claimed, adding that "Truth will ultimately prevail."
Seethakka underscored the urgency of curbing the misuse of social media, saying, "They are throwing mud on us, but now it is our turn to wash it off."
