Telangana Minister Uttam dismisses KCR's criticism of Congress government

Nalgonda, Apr 28 (UNI) Dismissing Bharat Rashtra Samithi President and former Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao’s remarks against the congress party during the BRS Silver jubilee celebrations at Elkathurthy in Warangal district on Sunday, Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday said that the state government was working sincerely and tirelessly to serve the people of the state.
KCR was trying to mislead the people after ruining the state during his 10 years of rule, he alleged.
Speaking alongside Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and other leaders at the foundation-laying ceremony for the additional block at Nalgonda Collectorate here, the Minister said that the BRS President , who pushed Telangana into a deep financial crisis, was now shamelessly attacking a Congress government that was working hard to repair the damage.
"KCR destroyed Telangana in ten years. Now he is targeting those who are working sincerely to rebuild the state," he said.
Uttam said the Congress government lost nearly five to six months because of elections after coming to power but had not wasted a single day since.
"Since taking oath as a Minister on December 7, 2023, I have not taken even a single day's leave. We are working round the clock to serve the people," Reddy said.
The Minister pointed out that the BRS government spent Rs 1.81 lakh crore on irrigation projects but failed to bring any significant increase in ayacut.
He said the Kaleshwaram project, for which nearly Rs 1 lakh crore was spent, turned out to be a disaster. "The Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages collapsed during the BRS regime due to poor design, poor construction, and poor operation and maintenance. The BRS leaders were more interested in commissions than in serving farmers," Uttam alleged.
Reddy said the Congress government was committed to completing all pending irrigation projects in a transparent and honest manner.
He also accused the former Chief Minister of betraying Telangana’s farmers by agreeing to an unfair Krishna water allocation. "KCR agreed to just 299 TMCs of Krishna waters during bifurcation, causing huge injustice to Telangana. Today, the Congress government is fighting to secure Telangana's rightful share in Krishna River," the Minister said.
Taking a strong swipe at the BRS President Uttam said, "Since losing power, KCR has not attended even a single session of the Telangana Assembly. He is afraid to face the elected representatives. But he comes to public meetings like in Warangal to spread lies and cover up his failures."
Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government, he said Telangana was on track to achieve the highest paddy production in the country.

"In 2024-25, Telangana will produce a total of 281 lakh metric tonnes of paddy -153.5 LMT in Vanakalam and 70.13 LMT in Rabi. Despite the collapse of Kaleshwaram structures, we are achieving record production," Reddy added.
Uttam said the Congress government was focusing on completing irrigation projects, expanding welfare schemes, and boosting agriculture production, while KCR and the BRS were busy spreading lies to hide their failures.
"The people of Telangana know the truth. They have already rejected KCR once and will not be misled again," he asserted.
