Telangana to become a road infrastructure model for the nation: Minister

Hyderabad, July 3 (UNI) Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday announced an ambitious road development plan aimed at making the state a national
role model in infrastructure and road safety.

Speaking to the media after a state-wide review meeting with R&B officials at the department's
office in Hyderabad, the Minister said the government is prioritising high-traffic roads and black
spots to reduce accidents and improve connectivity.

The review meeting lasted over three hours and covered key issues across the state's road network.

“Our goal is to transform Telangana into a benchmark for road infrastructure in the country. Roads are not just for contractors—they are for the people,” Komatireddy said.

He highlighted that under the Congress government, tenders have already been invited for rural roads worth Rs 6,500 crore.
“We are committed to completing all pending rural road works within the next three years,” he added.

The Minister also said the department would adopt the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) for certain projects and is awaiting final advice from the Chief Minister before inviting tenders.

He assured that the long-pending promotions and postings in the department have been addressed to ensure efficient implementation.

Thanking Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for prioritising road development, Komatireddy announced that payment dues to small contractors will be cleared this month.

On the critical issue of road safety, the Minister noted that Telangana sees a high number of accident-related deaths.
“We are identifying accident-prone black spots and initiating corrective works under the road safety plan,” he said.

Komatireddy also revealed plans to soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari regarding the long-awaited Regional Ring Road (RRR).

“The shape of Hyderabad will be transformed with the completion of the RRR. We aim to complete the project within three years,” he said, adding that the state cabinet will soon approve the construction of a six-lane road to boost connectivity.

Recalling past achievements, the Minister credited the Congress-era leadership of Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for completing the Outer Ring Road (ORR), and expressed confidence
that the current government would deliver similar landmark projects.
