Telangana to introduce slot booking and biometric system in Sub-Registrar offices

Hyderabad, Mar 17 (UNI) Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information, and Civil Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the state government will introduce a slot booking and biometric system in Sub-Registrar offices to enhance service efficiency, transparency, and curb corruption.
During a three-hour review meeting on the Stamps & Registration Department held at the Secretariat on Monday, the Minister said the new system would simplify the registration process, an official statement said.
Srinivasa Reddy explained that while the current document registration process takes between 45 minutes to an hour, the new slot booking system would reduce the time to just 10-15 minutes. This system will be introduced in select Sub-Registrar offices as part of a pilot project starting in the first week of April.
To improve public convenience, the Minister said Sub-Registrar offices are being modernized with advanced technology, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots. He urged officials to reorganize these offices to better accommodate the new slot booking system.
He also instructed Sub-Registrars to take strict action against property registrations involving land from the prohibited list. Reddy proposed developing a dedicated portal similar to Bhu Bharati, which will display details of prohibited properties and be linked to the Revenue Department.
The Minister warned that severe action would be taken if prohibited land is registered, adding that steps are being taken to ensure such properties are flagged in the Stamps & Registration Office system as soon as a registration attempt is made.
Regarding the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS), which benefits thousands of families, Srinivasa Reddy directed officials to expedite the pending applications. He instructed District Registrars to review LRS applications daily and advised Sub-Registrars to consult higher authorities if doubts arise to prevent delays.
He emphasised the need to address public grievances while adhering to LRS regulations and instructed District Sub-Registrars to visit their respective offices weekly to monitor progress and improve service delivery.
The meeting was attended by Stamps & Registration Secretary Jyoti Buddhaprakash, CCLA Secretary Mandha Makarand, IT Secretary Bhavesh, DIGs of six zones, and District Registrars of the union districts. UNI VV SSP
