TN: Forest guard critically injured in Indian gaur attack, dies

Theni (Tamil Nadu), Mar 23 (UNI) A Forest guard, who was attacked by an Indian gaur while patrolling the Sathur forest range under the Theni Forest division, succumbed to injuries at Theni Government Medical College Hospital, here on Sunday.
Forest department officials said the deceased, identified as Chinna Karuppan (48) was patrolling the Kottaimalai forest along with anti-poaching guards, when he was attacked by the Indian gaur, while the others managed to escape on Thursday.
The critically injured forest guard was later rescued and admitted to Theni Government Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries without responding to the intense treatment.
Kadamalaikundu police have registered a case and are investigating.
