TN: Man dies after coming in contact with illegal electric fence

Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), Mar 23 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a 37-year-old man was electrocuted after accidentally coming into contact with an illegally-erected electric fence in a farm at Pillaiyarnatham village near Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu early on Sunday.
Police said the deceased was identified as S.Murugan of Mangapuram village.
He had gone to a cotton farm along with his friend to hunt hares, when the tragedy occurred.
The farm owner Mariappan had laid iron cables on the ground that was connected with live wire to prevent wild boars from devouring crops.
Murugan accidentally stepped on the iron cable and subsequently electrocuted, while his friend escaped unhurt.
The body was removed to the government hospital for post-mortem.
Srivilliputhur Town police have registered a case and arrested the farm owner.
