Transgenders take out rally demanding reservation in govt jobs

Prayagraj, Mar 31 (UNI) Members of the transgender community took out a rally on the occasion of 'International Transgender Day', on Monday here demanding reservation in government jobs.
The rally was taken out under the leadership of a member of UP Transgender Welfare Board and Mahamandaleshwar of Prayagraj Kinnar Akhada Kaushalya Nand Giri alias Tina Maa. A large number of members from the transgender community gathered at gate number 1 of the Company Bagh and marched in a rally up to Subhash Chowk and then staged a protest there.
Tina Maa said that the main purpose behind taking out a rally on 'International Transgender Day' was to increase awareness among people about the community.
She said that just like other people in the society they have the right to live with respect, the government should also give transgenders reservation in education and jobs so that they can also live a normal life like other people.
Tina Maa said that transgenders, lesbians and people from gay society should also get reservation so that they can join the mainstream of the society. "They are also a part of this society. At the same time, people associated with the lesbian community say that they are also a part of this society. Then how can people have wrong feelings towards them," she said.
She said that till now there is talk of 27 percent reservation for OBCs, but it has not been ascertained yet how much of the reservation we have. "The government should ensure it," she said.
She said that in the last few years, India has been successful in establishing itself as a strong country in front of the world. "India does not bow down to any pressure and is moving ahead with great strength and is presenting its views to the world without any fear. The country is safe in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," she said.
Mahamandleshwar said that PM Modi has done a lot of work for the upliftment and development of transgenders by bringing them into the mainstream. She expressed confidence that PM Modi will consider giving the transgenders the benefit of reservation in jobs to lead a respectable life.
